Did the world respond similarly to the coronavirus when the Spanish Flu pandemic occurred in 1918?

 In 1918, the Situation was different, World war had ended. Returning soldiers to their home countries acted as carriers of Spanish flu to their home countries. The world responded slowly, due to a lack of tools available as compared now. That time transportation means was only through trains, steamships or roads.
